Champa Kumar (71 years old), a resident of St Mary’s Road, passed away in the early hours of
Nov 25.
Born in May 1952 in E V Kalyani Hospital, she went on to study in Vidya Mandir /
Rosary Matric and completed her BA in fine arts from Stella Maris College.
She married N S Kumar ( son of Chitra S. Narayanaswamy) and they lived the
last 35 yrs in the Alwarpet zone.
She was deeply involved in Carnatic vocal music (a graded All India Radio artiste), with
specialisation in Thevaram.
She also taught painting for about10 years and had managed a Tanjore painting gallery with her daughter – called Chaya Arts and Crafts in Eldams Road.
Her children are – daughter Sowmya and son Sidharth.
